Beginning spring semester, Central Carolina Technical College will be partnering with Slingshot, the physical and digital textbooks auto-fulfillment program offered to students at CCTC. Think of it as a subscription box for all of your textbooks, both physical and digital! Simply enroll in classes and all required textbooks will be delivered to you before the first day of class.
Textbooks are in a variety of formats. They could include a physical book, a rental book, a digital e-book, open educational resources or access codes.
All CCTC students are opted into Slingshot automatically and will receive all required textbooks. There is no need to place an order or provide any payment information - all required textbooks will be pre-packed. Items can be picked up at the Campus Store located at the Main Campus before the first day of class. You must have your student ID or driver's license in order to pick up your order. No exceptions. For a shipping fee, items can be shipped to a preferred address. Students can expect their textbooks to be a mix of digital and/or physical books based on affordability and can access account information and digital items on the Slingshot student portal using their myCCTC login credentials.
Here's how to access your Slingshot Account:
1. Visit my.cctech.edu and log in to your myCCTC account.
2. Click Student in the menu on the left.
3. In the middle column under the College Services section, click the Slingshot Books link.
4. View your digital books on the "My Course Materials" tab.
5. No need to place an order! All students are automatically opted in and will receive all required textbooks needed for their schedule.
If you choose to opt out of the Slingshot program, you can still buy books a la carte on the Slingshot website anytime. However these will not be covered by Financial Aid
Slingshot FAQ
1. How do I log into the Slingshot website?
1. Visit my.cctech.edu and log in to your myCCTC account.

2. What if I need special supplies for my course such as tool kits, calculators, etc.?
Visit the Campus Store in person or online at http://campusstore.cctech.edu/.
3. How do I track a book shipment?
After logging into this website, navigate to the "Transaction History" tab. Click the drop-down arrow to the left of the transaction to see the transaction details, including a tracking number if the item was shipped.
4. How do I return a rental book at the end of a course?
If you originally picked up your items from the Campus Store, return them to the Campus Store for processing. If your rental books were originally shipped to a preferred address, we will provide a return shipping label to ship your rental books back to us from within the Continental United States for free. Just log in to your account on Slingshot website, find the outstanding rental books you’d like to return from the “My Course Materials” tab and click “Return”. The on-screen prompt will help you print out your label.
5. How do I return textbooks that I don't need?
Contact the CCTC Campus Store, or Slingshot Customer Support to provide return authorization. Textbooks have specific return policies dependent upon the method by which they were obtained, as well as whether they are digital or physical, and whether or not you are still enrolled in the class.

7. In what format are textbooks provided?
You automatically receive all required textbooks for every course through the program, including access codes. By default, textbooks are in a variety of formats. They could include a physical book, a rental book, a digital e-book, open educational resources or access codes.
8. What if I add or drop a course?
If you make changes to your schedule, Slingshot will automatically receive any updated enrollment information and process any additional required books. An email notification will be sent to you as soon as the item(s) is available or shipped. If a course is dropped, you will receive an email notification and have 7 days from the start of class to return any physical books with no penalty. EBooks are automatically returned.
9. Can I write or highlight in rented textbooks?
Yes. Appropriate amounts of highlighting and notes are acceptable in rented books.
10. Can I keep rental textbooks?
Absolutely. You are welcome to keep any rental for your own library if you would like. If you keep a rental beyond the return deadline, we will automatically charge your account for the rental not returned fee.
11. What if I prefer physical textbooks instead of ebooks?
This program promises to provide the most affordable textbooks as a standard for you. This will include eBook rentals if they are more affordable than physical rentals. If you prefer physical/printed textbooks, we offer a “Print Upgrade” preference which will guarantee physical rentals whenever they are available. This preference results in an additional $9.99 per credit hour taken for every course in which physical items are provided.

12. How do I access digital items?
All eBooks are accessible in one location through your Slingshot account on the “My Course Materials” tab. Once an eBook is available, an email notification will be sent with a link for access. Additional digital items (i.e., IA products) may be accessible directly in your course.
13. What if I need a book for more than one course (continuation)?
If an item is required for a continuing course in a following term(s) based on your enrollment, the system will automatically extend the rental duration for that item and let you know that you can keep the item for the next term without any penalty.
